Mike Babcock Visit’s the Martlets
January 25th marked a much-needed victory for the Montreal Canadians as they hosted the Red Hot Detroit Red Wings who at the time were coasting on a 16 game win streak. I think it is safe to say that most fans would think that the struggling Habs would be in for another tough night, however the tables were turned and Montreal found themselves skating circles around the Wings with the final score favoring ‘les bleu-blancs-rouge’... McGill off to a Great Start in 2012
A great start to the new semester, and it’s good to be back! Though we are often disappointed during exams at the brevity of our upcoming Christmas Holidays, we always return to Montreal as though the separation was much too long. Not that we didn’t utterly enjoy our time at home with family and friends, but it’s difficult to be away from each other for more than just a few days. We returned to McGill... Read more →

Canada 3 - United States 1
NYKÖPING, Sweden - Hayley Wickenheiser scored the game-winning goal for Canada in a 3-1 victory over the United States on Thursday at the 2011 4 Nations Cup women's hockey tournament. The matchup was a historic one, marking the 100th time since 1990 that the two women’s hockey rivals have faced off against each other. Wickenheiser (Shaunavon, Sask.) beat American goalie Jesse Vetter midway through the third period, taking a low wrist shot from the slot,... Read more →

Read more →

Read more →

Ursula on Tour at McGill and Visit the Martlets
Just like AUCC, McGill University is celebrating an anniversary this year. Happy 190th birthday, McGill! Wow, what a history! Back in 1821, Montreal was apparently a rough and tumble town – quite different from the sophisticated, fun city it is today. The school, too, started out as a tiny university and has become one of the world’s top ranked schools. To honour this event, the first thing I did as I entered the downtown campus... Read more →

Head Coach Peter Smith Reflects on the Outlook of the 2011 Version of the Martlet Hockey Team
Every season, the McGill Martlet Hockey team introduces new members to the roster. The team has a certain culture that must be passed on from year to year and the first year players learn quickly that they will not survive in the Martlet environment if they don’t work hard and dedicate themselves to improving on a daily basis. These young players have come to McGill to be challenged both in the classroom and on the... Read more →

Life as a Martlet Hockey Player by Jordanna Perroff
When deciding between coming to McGill and other Universities, what drew me to my final decision was McGill’s hockey program, the coaches, the city, and the school’s academic reputation. What I will be leaving with, in addition to a keen appreciation of all these, is an experience I could not have imagined five years ago. I came looking to become a better hockey player, and I will be leaving as a better person. There is... Read more →
